AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Transportation Planning Engineer Intern – Summer 2026 to join our Denver, CO office.

Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it’s like to work in a professional environment and apply what’s learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support our team with transportation planning tasks that could include:
    • Traffic modeling
    • Data collection
    • Safety analysis
    • Multi-modal planning and design
    • Public engagement
  • Assist with documentation and preparation of reports. 
  • Contribute to preparation of design plans
  • Assist with data analysis, charts and graphics

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EXPERIENCE:
    • No experience is generally required if accepted into a Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in a related technical field.
  • EDUCATION:
    • Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering Bachelor’s degree or related field, or be enrolled in a Master’s program in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2026).
  • SPECIAL SKILLS:
    • Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.
    • Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
    • Interest in transportation and traffic engineering
    • Good computer skills and be able to utilize standard office software.
