Job Description

AECOM’s Transit and Rail Division is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Transportation/Transit Planner for immediate employment in the Chicago, IL office. 

JOB SUMMARY:

The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an educational and career path in transit or transportation planning, with proven experience in contributing to planning efforts related to transit, transportation and/or community planning, and active transportation projects. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • An appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an educational and career path in transit or transportation planning, with proven experience of contributing to planning efforts related to transit, transportation and/or community planning, active transportation projects
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to be highly organized, work well independently and with the team, and the ability to communicate clearly
  • The selected candidate can look forward to contributing to projects that include multimodal corridor studies, environmental and transit-specific planning
  • Develops reports, graphics, and technical memoranda as assigned
  • Possesses technical excellence in transit and transportation planning
  • Ability to work collaboratively with strong, dynamic teams
  • Reviews and produces comprehensive transportation and transit planning studies
  • Participates in meetings and presents project findings to staff with advisory boards and elected officials
  • Interprets and applies applicable government codes, ordinances, and regulations
  • Acts as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers, and elected officials
  • Conducts extensive research in specific or general project areas, writes and presents formal and technical reports, working papers, and correspondence
  • Experience with contributing to the development of long-range transportation plans for transit agencies
  • Experience working on transportation and transit projects in compliance of local, state, and federal regulations including the National Environmental Policy Act and Federal Transit Administration funding requirements

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent, advanced degree preferred
  • PE or AICP or active involvement in APA or other professional organizations and registrations
  • Experience with ESRI, InDesign and other related systems

Additional Information

 

  • Offered rate of compensation (Illinois locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $55,029.50 - $96,301.63.
