Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Transportation Operator II - Lead who will provide Transportation Services to Western State Hospital (WSH), Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents (CCCA) and Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center (WWRC); other duties include the delivery of laundry, food and supplies to multiple facilities, Provide transportation services for patients as needed; and additional duties include “As Directed” which consist of being a team player and assisting PPS in work that may be outside the scope of your normal duties. (i.e. Laundry, on-call, housekeeping, and etc.)
The Transportation Operator II - Lead will also be responsible for picking up linens from CCCA and WWC and bring back to WSH for processing; removing trash from the units and take to the dumpster for disposal; picking up patient property from the units and Admissions Office and take to Patient Property for storage; the delivery of drug boxes and lab boxes throughout WSH and CCCA; transport patients and staff to medical appointments; assisting with snow and ice removal; and assisting with disaster exercises or special events as directed by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- valid Virgina driver's license with good driving record
- Commercial Operator's License (CDL)
- working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles
- working knowledge of state laws, local ordinances and agency regulations governing equipment being operated
- skilled in the use of various hand and shop tools for maintenance of vehicles
- good mechanical skills and excellent safety practices
- ability to read, write, communicate clearly, follow instructions, perform basic math calculations, lift heavy objects, walking on various surfaces and work in various weather conditions
- ability to follow directions provided by skilled technicians, work independently and to make decisions on how to perform the required tasks
- ability to operate motor vehicles and snow equipment and to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
