Job Description
Transportation Engineer Manger
AECOM presents an outstanding career opportunity for a Transportation Engineer Manager specializing in traffic engineering studies. By joining our multidisciplinary statewide traffic team, you will play a crucial role in fostering client relationships and spearheading efforts to secure traffic engineering projects. Our team of exceptional and highly skilled professionals collaborates with both local and national clients, delivering innovative and comprehensive solutions for diverse transportation needs across all modes of travel. Key projects and responsibilities span a diverse array of traffic engineering services, including:
- Interstate access requests
- Traffic projections
- Traffic impact studies
- Traffic analysis and microsimulation
- Traffic safety analysis/studies
- Conceptual planning and design
- Other transportation-related studies
This position is optimally based in Orlando, Florida, or within the Central Florida region. Hybrid work option.
Responsibilities:
Identifies, pursues, and wins traffic engineering projects.
Works collaboratively with other discipline leads in Florida to perform business development activities such as identification of project opportunities, marketing clients, making technical presentations at conferences, assisting with proposal preparation, and assisting with recruiting efforts.
Leads junior engineers in the execution of traffic engineering projects,
Provides day-to-day direct mentoring and guidance to junior engineers in the execution of their tasks.
Performs or oversees—with little supervision—all aspects of traffic engineering studies including data collection, microsimulation model development and calibration (SimTraffic and VISSIM) or other deterministic models such as Synchro, HCS, Vistro, or Sidra, traffic forecasting, and analysis of alternatives.
Presents technical findings to internal project teams, clients, and the public.
Documentation in technical memoranda and reports.
Follows AECOM and client process in performing quality control tasks of other engineers’ work.
Coordinates workload projections for direct reports and coordinates with other discipline leads
Assists direct reports in setting and accomplishing goals that advance their professional development.
Develops of assists project managers in the development of scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules.
Proposes approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field and 8 years of traffic engineering-related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- PE License in Florida and PTOE
- 15+ years of experience within the traffic engineering discipline
- Knowledge and experience with local municipal and county government and FDOT’s traffic engineering departments, procedures and current/upcoming contracts
- Experience using traffic simulation software, such as VISSIM, Synchro, Sidra, and HCS.
- Experience developing client relationships and leading pursuits
