About the role

Description

Summary of Position:


The Chauffeur will be responsible for transporting residents of an assisted living facility to appointments, social events, and other destinations. The Chauffeur must ensure that all residents are transported safely and in a timely manner. Additionally, the Chauffeur will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the vehicle(s) used for transportation.


Job Duties:


  • Transport residents to appointments, social events, and other destinations as requested
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers during transportation
  • Assist residents in and out of the vehicle as needed, including the use of assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation schedules and destinations
  • Ensure that the vehicle is clean and well-maintained, including regular check-ups and maintenance
  • Keep track of fuel usage and report any issues or concerns to management
  • Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving
  • Communicate effectively with residents, staff, and management regarding transportation needs and issues
  • Participate in training and education programs as needed to improve job performance


Requirements

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Experience driving large vehicles such as vans or buses
  • Familiarity with assistive devices such as wheelchairs and walkers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff, and management
  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist residents in and out of the vehicle as needed
  • Previous experience working in an assisted living facility or with elderly populations
  • CPR and first aid certification
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance and repair

Physical Demands:


  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and assist residents in and out of the vehicle as needed. 
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while driving and be able to operate a vehicle safely.
