Group/Division

The Legal Compliance Organization (LCO) team headquartered in Milpitas, CA and second headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI provides legal guidance to further KLA’s strategic objectives and protect and preserve the legal, ethical and financial integrity and reputation of the Company. With specific expertise in the areas of corporate law, commercial law, employment law, and intellectual property; the LCO offers strategic legal counsel that is informed by a clear understanding of the company’s business objectives and expertise in the laws and regulations relevant to the business worldwide.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Reporting into KLA’s Trade Compliance Manager in KLA’s Shanghai office, the individual in this role will be a member of a global team and support import and export compliance activities for all KLA offices and KLA subsidiaries in China, lead import/export classification reviews, and support daily operational activities (e.g., classification, customs inquiries), maintain import and export functional procedures, and assist with training on trade compliance-related issues and topics. The individual will also support regional trade compliance activities and company-wide trade compliance projects, as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzing trade compliance regulatory developments, assessing impacts to the business, and supporting any actions required to maintain compliance
  • Support customs inquiries during the import/export operations
  • Support HS code classification and dual-use item reviews and ensure compliance with China import and export requirements.
  • Coordinate and support applications for required export and import licenses, permits, and certifications with relevant government authorities.
  • Support trade compliance audits to assess potential risk and track corrective actions
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams (including logistics, procurement, engineering, and legal) to ensure import and export operations align with corporate compliance standards and business objectives.
  • Support KLA Global Trade Compliance team on regional and corporate‑level initiatives and projects.

Qualifications

  • BS is preferred, along with 3-5 years Trade Compliance experience and a good understanding of the international business environment
  • Good knowledge of China import/export regulations, especially mechanical and electrical product HS tariff classification and customs declaration requirements.  Knowledge of customs valuation and country-of-origin requirements a plus.
  • Experience using automated trade compliance systems (e.g., SAP GTS)
  • Technical/engineering background or experience is helpful
  • Experience in high-tech industry or the semiconductor industry is preferred
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in a global, cross‑functional environment.
  • Fluent in English writing and speaking

Minimum Qualifications
