Summary:
The Translating Research into Action Center (TRAC) at American University is strengthening the university’s institutional capacity to support research translation for societal and economic impact through research, training, and support - financial and operational - for faculty and students. The goal is to make academic research not just a theoretical pursuit but a catalyst for positive, tangible growth in society.
Currently, TRAC is developing research translation training programs for AU faculty, post-doctoral students, PhD students, and undergraduates that will enhance their ability to conduct research translation effectively. To that end, the office is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable student to support the planning, coordination, and execution of research translation training activities.
Responsibilities:
Schedule and attend recurring check-in meetings with Professor Jordan Tama, who leads the training program.
Send out event invitations, manage RSVP tracking, and send reminders/follow-ups.
Liaise with campus and external partners to implement joint events.
Reserve campus rooms, A/V, and manage space logistics.
Order catering and manage delivery/set-up.
Provide on-site, day-off support including event space set-up (where required), welcoming speakers and guests, facilitating check-in process, and troubleshooting logistics.
Coordinate post-event follow-up tasks such as sending surveys and compiling attendance lists and uploading them to our internal engagement tracking system.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-time.
Salary Range:
$17.95 - $22/hour.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Strong interpersonal skills will be essential as this role involves interacting with faculty, staff, and students across the university as well as with our external collaborators.
