The Opportunity
This position works out of our Austin, Texas location in the in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.
An engineering professional who, working with little or no supervision, applies project management knowledge, engineering knowledge and ingenuity to complete small to medium size projects from concept thru project closure within or across disciplines.
What You’ll Work On
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
•Develop, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple, often concurrent projects with significant scope and impact to drive factory performance improvement and achieve Operational Excellence and GMI goals.
•Understands the business needs and has a thorough knowledge of the customer when developing a project scope. Incorporates business foresight.
•Leads development of Project Charters and define initial requirements that align with the stakeholder’s needs and expectations.
•Establishes project objectives and success criteria for evaluating project results and ensuring cohesive project team to meet these goals.
•Uses Lean Six Sigma methodologies established PM tools and techniques (FEP, Cash Flow Projections, Scope / Schedule Control, etc.) to stay within authorized budget limits and achieve the overall project and organizational objectives.
•Develops project plan documenting the actions necessary to define, prepare, integrate and coordinate all subsidiary plans. Directs and manages Project Execution by performing the work defined in the project plan to achieve project objectives.
•Manages all phases of project management, from planning and execution to monitoring and closing. Focuses on cost and milestone achievement to optimize resource utilization.
•Defines roles and responsibilities. Manages or Directs efforts of internal and external resources. Monitors and controls project work to meet the performance objectives defined in the project plan.
•Reviews change requests, manages and approves changes to the deliverables, organizational process assets, project documents, and the project plan.
•Monitors and controls project work to meet the performance objectives defined in the project plan. Effectively manages services and suppliers.
•Implements common project management tools and methodologies. Contributes to the development of project management best practices.
•Identifies areas of risk and mitigates risks through comprehensive risk assessments and implementation of fallback / mitigation strategies.
