The roleThe Reliability Test Engineer will report to the Senior System Test Manager and will be responsible for implementing and executing the reliability test program designed from the ground-up to accelerate learnings in reliability, durability, serviceability and more, on the entire Outrider system and its subsystems. This position will specifically be tasked with developing and executing new test protocols for reliability testing on Outrider’s system, subsystems, and components.  
This position plays an essential role in helping deliver a safety-critical system for industrial automation. The opportunity offers a very talented, self-starting, technical leader the chance to help develop a market-defining enterprise product that combines autonomous vehicle technology with a software-as-a-service (SaaS) business model.

Duties and Qualifications

• Support the definition of the Outrider System Mission Profile specification documenting the system lifecycle, use cycles, and expected environmental exposures.
• Support the design of shock and vibration test protocol and equipment for autonomous yard trucks and its subsystems and components. 
• Architect and implement test plans and procedures on a variety of Reliability tests including Cold/Hot Weather performance, Vibrations, Endurance, and Durability.
• Design, organize, and conduct tests to verify and validate the reliability performance and safety characteristics of the entire system.
• Lead day-to-day test activities by working hands-on with the test technicians in the lab and on the trucks. 
• Conduct detailed root-cause analysis on issues found during tests using common problem-solving methods, and document all findings in JIRA.
• Develop data analysis scripts and visualization tools to quickly extract key learnings and trends from Reliability testing.
• Effectively communicate test results and issues to peers on the Engineering teams.
• Work with the team to understand and prioritize test exceptions and help drive toward a product that meets all customer, business, and technical expectations.
• Embody a "Safety Steward" mindset - hold all persons accountable for safety on test trucks, equipment and area, and proactively propose safety improvements. 
• Domestic travel as needed to perform field work, training, or customer support (up to 20%)

Required Qualifications

• 5 or more years experience testing Reliability or Durability of systems and subsystems
• Experience with the development of vibration test protocol for systems with use cases outside of industry test standards
• Experience using vibration data acquisition systems to validate test profiles against real-world measurements
• BS Engineering or related technical field
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ideal Qualifications

• Experience writing, verifying, and validating requirements for complex systems and subsystems and reporting against them
• Experience with autonomous trucks or other automated distribution yard products
