The hourly pay rate is $31.72 per hour. 

SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Director of Engineering and/or Chief Engineer, the carpenter is responsible for maintenance, repair and upkeep of facility, structural, equipment and hardware. The carpenter may be assigned diverse aspects related to facility and event operations. The position involves detailed knowledge of facilities and equipment and the ability to adapt to numerous situations.  Ability to work independently as well as ability to work with and/or supportive of engineering staff. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the day-to-day repair and maintenance of the facility, structure, equipment and hardware including door, seats, locks, ceilings, tables, risers, steps, curtains, blinds, carpets, flooring, windows, etc.

 

Fabricate and construct any carpentry related pieces including cabinets, steps, shelving, braces, tables, stands, etc.

 

Maintenance and repair of fixed and portable seating.

 

Maintenance and repair of door and lock assemblies

 

Removal and/or modification of fixed seating sections to accommodate event requirements and special installations.

 

Maintain carpentry supplies and inventories.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Not applicable.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum experience of 10 years in the carpentry trade with 5 years experience in facility maintenance Experience in performing arts facilities, hospitality or other 7/24 operations preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Journey level carpenter and five years related experience in facility maintenance, preferably in the performing arts, hospitality or other 7/24 service venue operation; and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Not applicable.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of facility management and maintenance programs.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with, staff and outside contractors and vendors. 

 

Good interpersonal skills to foster a welcoming, effective, and efficient environment for clients, guests, contractors, employees and co-workers.

 

Ability and expectation to work irregular hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and long hours as necessary.
