Job Description:
As a Field Technician in the Bridge Program, you will be working as a Chief Inspector on construction projects, inspecting and documenting work performed by outside contractors.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Interpreting the plans and specifications that relate to the project,
- Performing inspection and measurement of the work, and,
- Testing of, and record-keeping on, the materials used by the contractor.
When not on active construction projects, alternate work may include:
- Developing projects by assisting with design,
- Developing plans using Microstation software,
- Quantity and cost estimating, and,
- Performing right-of- way functions.
The incumbent may act as a Resident Inspector on selected projects and will be introduced to project management principles and advanced technical engineering duties. This position may involve supervision of technical and semi-skilled personnel. The ability to travel statewide for overnight and extended stays is required.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Five (5) years of experience in engineering –OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering.
