The Entry Level Workshop Technician (“ELT”) is a new MSHS program for introducing candidates to join our industry of servicing Reciprocating Equipment (primarily comprised of diesel and gas engine components as well as turbochargers). This ELT will join MSHS (“the company”) with minimal mechanical experience and will develop skills and knowledge to perform basic overhaul procedures independently. In this position the ELT will assist and perform assigned tasks on Reciprocating Equipment, applying learned procedures, techniques, and best practices. In this role, the ELT acts in a supportive role to the Workshop Section he/she is assigned to and will be required to perform at least but not limited to the following:

  • Daily assigned individual development training (30 minutes/day)
  • Disassemble Reciprocating Equipment components under Supervision.
  • Conduct professional cleaning of Reciprocating Equipment components
  • Use engineering measuring equipment (Metric & Standards) and document measurements as per manufacturer specifications and MSHS ISO standards
  • Operate basic hand-, electrical-, and pneumatic tools
  • Conduct general cleaning of the workshop and assigned areas
  • Conduct stock inventory and perform stock replenishments of consumable materials
  • Participate in frequent career development review meetings with Senior Technicians and Supervisor

In this position, the ELT will be required to attend individual development training for 30 minutes per day as part of his/her employment. For the remainder of each working day for 4 periods of 6 consecutive weeks each, the ELT will be assigned to a Senior Workshop Technician to learn part of a trade, totaling 6 months of On-the-Job Training. Every six weeks, the Senior Workshop Technician will evaluate the ELT on the quality, accuracy, and timeliness of their work. Additionally, they will review tidiness, communication skills, safety awareness, behavior, attitude, and attendance.

After 6 months of Training, the ELT is expected to be able to perform basic overhaul work independently. The ELT may then be assigned full-time to a Workshop section based on the overall performance assessment and depending on the company’s business needs.
