Technical Writer/Editor

ICF is looking for a Technical Writer/Editor to support a large, IT Governance Support Services contract. Upon award you will help us create and maintain technical documents for the implementation of an information technology (IT) governance strategy and framework for our client. If you are looking for a hands-on opportunity and want to put your Technical Writing skills to use, this role may be for you. This position is a hybrid, and the candidate must reside in the DMV area.

What you’ll be doing:

• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements

• Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.

• Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides.

• Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications.

• Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities

• Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation.

• Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.

• Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.

• Excellent written skills in English

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Basic familiarity with the SDLC and software development

University degree in Communications, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred

What you will need:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred.

• 2+ years of experience in technical writing or software documentation

• The ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust, which involves a thorough background and financial investigation.

• 2 years of experience writing to Agile and DevSecOps solutions.

• US Citizenship required by Federal Government. Security clearance required.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Excellent written and verbal communication and personal skills with ability to present to groups, including C-level executives.

• Demonstrated ability to elicit requirements, document user stories, develop business process models, and perform feasibility and cost benefit analyses.

• Strong communication, facilitation, interview, formal document writing, and presentation skills.

• Experience using Tableau, Power Apps, Azure DevOps, Salesforce, Appian, and ServiceNow.
