What’s the role?
The Technical Supervisor - Product Delivery Geophysicist is responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day operations of Company’s onshore Product Delivery Center. This role will manage creation, QC and final shipments of contractual deliverables (seismic and all auxiliary support data) from OBN seismic crews to our clients or designated onshore data processing centers. Key responsibilities include:
Product Delivery Center Operations
- Manage day-to-day operations of onshore Product Delivery Center, create, QC and provide final data deliverables to our clients and/or to their designated onshore data processing centers.
- Organize and maintain projects folders (structure, standardization, cataloging) in accordance with the standard set forth by the PXGEO.
- Collect and validate field data, logs and reports from various sources / formats and create a datastore for every project.
- Analyze and quality control all seismic and corresponding support datasets received from the field crews, identify problems and define ideal solutions.
- Monitor various source and receiver line-by-line and survey wide attributes to ensure adherence of seismic and positioning data to contract technical specifications.
- Report quality-related non-conformities and immediately communicate to the Project Manager and/or Project Geophysicist when any degradation of the quality is observed or a problem occurs, indicating the possible causes and suggested corrective actions.
- Setup of clent deliverables, generation of workflows during early phases of the OBN acquisition project such as mobilization and/or first node recovery, both on site and/or remotely.
- Assist offshore geophysicists to configure QC workflows and parameters, if necessary, provide remote near real time quality control of seismic data acquisition.
- Ensure quality and conformance of all data products delivered by PXGEO to its clients by contributing to the ITT reviews, project acquisition plans and work instructions.
- Maintain accurate records of Product Delivery Center activities, equipment and media used for data transfers (e.g. Lyve drives), and data shipments, including QC logs, data transmittals, signed receipts and other necessary reports and forms.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing Product Delivery results and statistics for every project (datasets volumes, delivery timelines, resources used, associated costs, etc.).
- Monitor and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during Product Delivery generation, making necessary adjustments to ensure data quality and documenting “lesson learnt” reports for knowledge sharing.
- Liaise with Operational Systems department in matters related to seismic data storage management, satellite data transfers, and/or installation and maintenance of QC and data processing systems dedicated to Product Delivery Center (hardware and software).
- Propose and implement best practices, new technologies and methodologies in Seismic QC onshore.
Support to R&D
- Assist with conducting technical studies and tests to validate new data management technologies, seismic software and remote acquisition QC methodologies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing test results and findings.
EHSQ and Knowledge Sharing
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during day-to-day operations.
- Actively and systematically seeking and suggesting improvements and innovations, contribute to continual improvement and review of working practices and standards.
- Assist in the design, writing and implementation of seismic QC procedures, methods and technical content that facilitate good practices and effective communications between geophysical teams both offshore and onshore.
- Providing coaching and mentoring to onshore-based personnel, assisting with development of training material on geophysical hardware, software and QC workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients to interpret and communicate geophysical data and findings.
- Performing EHSQ audits as mandated by company policy and as circumstances require.
General
- Keep abreast of changes in seismic data acquisition and processing technology.
- Ensure the department’s assets are tracked and maintained according to Company procedures and best practices.
