Job Description Summary
The Field Wind Cell Technical Leader will have responsibility for new and repair field wind scope. TL will establish internal processes that safely ensure the production of high-quality products that meet compliance and project requirements for new unit and generator rotor repairs. Lead major capital improvement projects to prepare the field wind cell for increased volume. Lead the development and training of the next generation of MEs. Drive continuous improvement across the product lines by owning project timelines, improving cycle & cost, and resolving technical/process issues. Lead and effectively interface with hourly manufacturing and other support teams to complete projects to meet EHS, production, quality, and cost savings goals within schedule and budget.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Manage the installation and upgrade of new equipment including engineering, safety, installation and runoff. Initiate and lead capital equipment projects that support new product designs, factory capacity additions, and quality improvement goals.
Provide technical leadership to the field wind cell steering the cell directionally by developing process plans and tooling on upcoming work and communicating cross functionally with the machining cell for optimized part flow.
Train and develop next generation of salaried and hourly talent including training of manufacturing engineers.
Develop system service level of understanding of Braze, HiPot, Induction and Bake units.
Stay engaged with the current engineering and design of new generator rotor products supporting engineering and production tollgates.
Lead regular rhythm of process reviews with hourly winders geared towards one team approach to improve processes and eliminating work obstacles.
Train winders to execute successfully with quality results.
Support all technical aspects of new unit and service work.
Develop process workflow definition and timing (lean L1’s) to assist winding teams to better understand and plan the shop to hit COE level production goals.
Develop build books for new units and services jobs.
Help resolve daily technical issues promptly.
Develop training materials and planning in support of upcoming work.
Lead ME component of winder training and qualifications assigned.
Lead the development of EHS best practices for processes.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 10 years extensive hands-on practical experience with GE Vernova new unit and service field repairs.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a manufacturing engineer developing processes and tooling for GE Vernova new unit and service field repairs.
Demonstrated ability and history driving significant continuous improvement in tooling and processes on GE Vernova new unit and service field repairs.
Demonstrated ability for technical leadership in field wind.
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline with 5 years generator rotor manufacturing experience or 15 years generator rotor manufacturing experience.
Electrical testing experience with extensive troubleshooting background.
Ability to read drawings and bill of materials.
Experience developing new winding tools and implementing new equipment.
Project management experience.
Good oral and written communication skills, and organization ability.
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines.
Significant winding experience in both new units and repairs.
