The Role

We’re looking for a Technical Lead to guide the architectural direction and day-to-day technical execution of TuneIn’s web products. This is a hands-on hybrid role; you’ll write production code daily, mentor a talented team of engineers, and set the technical vision for our web platform.

You’ll be the team’s go-to technical authority, driving quality, scalability, and performance across projects, while collaborating closely with Product, Design, and other engineering teams to deliver world-class user experiences.

Scope of Work

• Lead technical direction & architecture for all TuneIn web applications, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• Mentor and guide the Web team, providing technical leadership, coaching, and feedback.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate product and design requirements into actionable technical solutions.
• Promote code quality through thoughtful code reviews, automated testing practices, and continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive modernization of our technology stack, evaluating and integrating new tools, frameworks, and approaches.
• Own and maintain a prioritized backlog of foundational work to ensure ongoing efficiency and technical health.
• Tackle complex performance optimizations, including image optimization, lazy loading, and improving page load times.
• Ensure reliability and quality of multimedia streaming experiences across all web-based integrations.
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies, proactively sharing insights with the team.
• Lead by example, fostering a sense of ownership, accountability, and urgency.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing, building, and scaling complex web applications.
• 2+ years of experience acting as technical lead, guiding architecture, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical direction.
• Expert in modern JavaScript and TypeScript, including advanced language features and asynchronous programming.
• Deep experience with React.js, Redux, and Node.js.
• Proficient in full-stack development, including building APIs.
• Proven track record of leading architectural decision-making and guiding technical strategy for large-scale applications.
• Comfortable facilitating cross-team technical initiatives and discussions.
• Adept at balancing hands-on coding with team leadership responsibilities.
• Strong collaborator with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with agile development processes.

Nice To Have

• Experience with multimedia streaming and technologies like the Native Web Audio API and hls.js.
• Familiarity with GraphQL, Zustand, Next.js, Radix, or other modern React libraries and frameworks.
• Experience building multi-application component libraries.
• Knowledge of ad SDK integrations (DFP
