Technical Development Manager, Great Lakes Region, USA

This position is responsible for technical leadership for technical development of new products, technical support for the current portfolio, and training of sales representatives.

Verdesian Life Sciences has an exciting pipeline of new technologies that need field data generated with contract research organizations. The TDM will lead the writing of protocols and working with peers to generate data while also networking across functions to assure excellent product launch. The TDM is accountable for technical support of the Verdesian nutritional and plant health product line to the Verdesian Sales Reps and customers. The individual also assumes responsibility for technical elements of marketing and regulatory documents (labels, product use direction, training materials, recommendations, field trials, and technical positioning of VLSCI products) for territory or product line.   The TDM is responsible for ensuring that Marketing, Sales, and Product Development are in alignment for the area in which they support. Effective interaction with marketing, manufacturing, sales, business development and regulatory is critical.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the field development of new technologies for enhanced nutrient use efficiency within assigned territory and with excellent project management skills
• Responsible for field trial design, management and data processing in collaboration with collaborators (CROs). Oversee the technical strategy and feasibility for products and new technologies within assigned territory.
• Be a core member of a product development team
• Identify, inspect and liaise with 3rd-party research firms (CROs) and plan, visit, analyze, and summarize data for advancement decisions and/or commercial use
• Business-to-business technical leadership in interactions with Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing and Channel Partners
• Technical training and direction for technical sales representatives and channel partners
• Technical liaison between the sales team, customers and business development opportunities
• Identification, prioritization, and pursuit of new technologies through industry networking
• Technical leadership in managing alleged product non-performance claims
• Travel 2-3 nights per week (average) using a company vehicle or air travel to achieve these responsibilities
• Other duties not listed above may be assigned by immediate supervisor

Criteria:

• Broad agronomy knowledge of specialty crops in the Great Lakes region in the U.S.
• Experience managing the technical aspects of product development projects for crop inputs
• Experience planning, facilitating or summarizing agronomic field trials
• Experience in technical support for differentiated products in a competitive market
• Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills, but also an innovative and creative thinker
• Strong ability to work well with others to achieve objectives, but independent and comfortable working from a remote home office
• High level of proficiency for analyzing and summarizing data (i.e., Excel, ARM, etc.)

• This position requires 40-60% travel on average (some weeks zero travel, some weeks 5 days)
• Work location is preferred in states of IN, MI, OH, but other adjacent states will be considered for strong candidates
