Description:
We are seeking an experienced VMware Architect with expertise in planning, implementing and managing scalable, resilient virtualization infrastructure. This role will be responsible for designing, planning, implementation and management of on-prem and cloud infrastructure. As a key player on the enterprise infrastructure team, you will work closely with existing technical architects and cross-functional teams to continually assess current virtualization infrastructure and implement optimized, scalable, and reliable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement VMware vSphere virtualization solutions, including server consolidation, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Configure and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and other VMware components.
- Monitor virtual infrastructure performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Provision, deploy, and manage virtual machines (VMs), templates, and snapshots.
- Implement and maintain security measures for virtualized environments, including access controls, network segmentation, and VM isolation.
- Create and maintain documentation related to virtualization configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Utilize automation tools and scripts to streamline migration and configuration tasks, ensuring efficient and error-free deployments.
- Work with project managers, developers, infrastructure teams, and external vendors to ensure project goals are achieved within budget and timelines.
- Implement and uphold security best practices and compliance standards across the new infrastructure environment.
- Capacity planning, budget and resource forecasting.
- Project planning, risk management, and status reporting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in VMware architecture.
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX), MCSE and Red Hat Certified are big pluses
Technical Skills :
- SME with VMWare SDDC components, including ESXi v7 and 8, SRM, VSAN etc.
- Proficiency in alternative virtualization technologies, including Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix, OpenShift, etc. including deployment, configuration, and management.
- Strong knowledge of network topology, disaster recovery and business continuity technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco UCS environments and Hyper-Converged infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of storage replication and backup solutions.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., VMWare Aria Automation, Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python).
