Team Manager – Manufacturing Engineering - Responsible for being the voice of the plant in gear manufacturing.   Monitor and confirm that engineering principles and manufacturing operating system standards are being applied and adhered to throughout the area.

What you'll do...

  • Manage Manufacturing Process Engineering activity for Machining Processes
  • Coach, teach, and feedback on resolution of abnormalities, and validate closure of concerns (facilitates permanent corrective actions)
  • Develop action plans as required to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actions
  • Lead/coach teams in leveraging new and existing machine monitoring tools to identify constraints in the system and systematically reduce and eliminate interruptions in production flow.
  • Create a conducive work environment for the team(s) to complete their assigned responsibilities / tasks
  • Facilitate results by applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to identify throughput constraints and continuously improve manufacturing processes
  • Create a safety culture and apply and implement workplace policies
  • Drive the creation and coordination of work plans troubleshooting activities on axle manufacturing and assembly down time issues with maintenance and the production team. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of work plans.
  • Lead and conduct process audits to ensure process discipline is consistent with procedures 
  • Build strong interpersonal relationships with hourly team members, union, and management teams.
  • Communicate effectively with hourly team members, leaders, business partners and customers
  • Evaluate team member performance and encourage continuous improvement

 

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience        
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience
  • 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong ability to interface with plant hourly, salaried personnel and plant management
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Experience in gear manufacturing 

 

Even better, you may have…

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing 
  • 2 or more years with CNC machining or equivalent manufacturing experience
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience
  • 8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills
  • Solid understanding of Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping
  • Knowledge of TQM and Kaizen Methods
  • FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and hours, including nights and weekends as needed
  • Union negotiations experience
