Position Summary
The Team Leader – Device Repair ensures the daily flow of assignments of repair orders to the team members of the product category group to ensure fulfillment of repair goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. This role is critical to facilitating the team’s timely and quality service, restoration and repair of surgical devices/instruments and equipment to specifications to deliver a superior customer experience.
Uses standardized, varied, and on occasion complex testing procedures; examines and tests mechanisms for defects. Recommends varied solutions to technicians in level one and two roles. Ensures new associates are trained in their technician role. Tracks associates' skills on the Skill Matrix and ensures team members are trained on new repairs, new repair techniques, and new processes.
Duties
- Ensures the daily flow of assignments of repair orders to the team members of the product category group to ensure fulfillment of repair goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Services, restores and repairs surgical devices/instruments and equipment to specifications.
- Uses standardized, varied, and on occasion complex testing procedures; examines and tests mechanisms for defects.
- Recommends varied solutions to technicians in level one and two roles.
- Replaces or repairs defective parts.
- Request parts from stock room.
- Reassembles surgical devices or equipment and tests assembly for conformance to specifications.
- Process Owner. Ensures team members are trained on new repairs, new repair techniques, and new processes.
- Tracks team members skills in accordance to skill matrix.
- Champions the daily achievement of production goals and oversees the updating of the Metrics Boards for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC).
- Tracks and monitors (SQDC) metrics and ensures the metrics boards have the most up-to-date information.
- Advocates and ensures conformation to all Company safety, health policies, and procedures.
- Conducts Safety Audits, Serves on Safety Committee, and Champions a "Safety First" Culture.
- Directs repair orders to team members who possess the required skills, knowledge and capabilities to optimally complete the repair.
- Performs estimation of repairs in own role and as necessary in other technician roles.
Education Degree
- High School Diploma or GED
Required Experience
5 years of relevant work experience including a combination of surgical device or instrument repair, operations, and informally leading others.

- Good eye to hand coordination.

- Ability to understand repair concepts and follow sequencing or repairs.
- Advanced in role based on the Skills Matrix.
- Demonstrates ability to determine correct spare parts required to complete a repair.
- If parts are controlled by inventory numbers, the technician knows and understands parts requisition procedures necessary for repairs in role.
- Demonstrates proficiency of standardized Metrics such as Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost (SQDC).
- Utilizes standard practices to implement well defined and complex solutions.
- Demonstrates awareness of costs and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Demonstrates awareness and knowledge of ordering parts and its requisition system.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, relay important information to team members, manage corporate messages.
- Demonstrates effective ability to form teams and be able to enable team members to work together.
- Demonstrates ability to run effective meetings where plans, agreements, and meeting goals are achieved.
- Copes well with stress – Effectively deals with the concerns of the organization and the people in it and provides appropriate attention.
- Computer skills to use repair tracker, production software, item searches and email.
