Position Summary:
Command Cyber Solutions (a government contractor) is seeking a qualified Systems Operator IV/Computer Operator II to perform System Operator Duties to support a Government Technical Services Project for the US DOE TRANSCOM Program. TRANSCOM consists of multiple custom web applications, tools and interfaces and a user help desk that supports users 24-7. This position provides TRANSCOM technical support services directly to the EM CBFO, and DOE sites as needed to aid in the tracking of the transuranic (TRU) waste shipments as well as other radioactive material shipments to meet the DOE mission requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Perform application testing and system testing as requested using various systems analysis techniques and procedures by consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications.
• Coordinate with DOE shippers and carriers on shipment logistics.
• Perform troubleshooting on all system components to ensure the system remains available to all stakeholders. Troubleshoot to mitigate, report failures.
• In addition to operating the system, Computer Programmer II
o Independently analyze, solve, and correct database development issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
o Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
o Share technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
o Will be responsible for creating a wide range of custom reports
• Follow all procedures, shipment checklists, log entries for all shipment events and alarms, help desk support and technical system problems.
• Follow DOE and NRC security guidelines when providing user support.
Education, Experience & Certification Requirements:
Education Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience:
• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in computer programming.
Certifications (one or more required):
• AWS Certified Developer Associate
• CompTIA Security+
• Oracle Certified Associate
• Java Programmer OCAJP
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
• Proficient in MS Office suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and any other software specific to this position.
• Proven experience with OOP languages (Java, C++, VB.NET); familiarity with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and AJAX; proficiency with programming language (Python, C#, etc.).
• Direct experience with Agile software development methodologies a plus.
• Understanding of object-oriented software engineering and proven record of successful application development.
• Working knowledge of SQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Ability to write clean, well-documented code.
• Solid troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives with strong organizational, analytical, research, problem-solving and technical skills.
• Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, local laws, regulations and requirements, including but not limited to current DOE Directives (https://energy.gov/em/doe-directive).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in the production of deliverables and in interactions with fellow employees and client personnel. Display a professional customer-service attitude at all times.
• Ability to adhere to fundamental principles of ethical service pursuant to federal, state and local regulations.
