This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.
Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking an Engineering Integration Engineer with a strong technical background who can support integration of equipment skids for Kairos Power Fluoride Salt-Cooled High Temperature Reactor technology. You will work in a small, highly empowered team where every team member is directly responsible for the success of the program, by ensuring collaboration occurs in the preparations and readiness for construction and commissioning efforts of equipment and systems.
Responsibilities
- This role will be very hands on and will require you to facilitate across various stakeholders (other engineers, designers, and technicians) to achieve integration of components and systems.
- Support the resolution and work through specific cross functional issues that arise and require integrated or standardized solutions.
- Support the development of systems engineering design best practices, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives such as system requirements and plans for verification.
- You will have to apply your strong technical background and knowledge to support efforts to close multiple trades, system sensitivity studies, and drive towards key decisions, coordinate project reviews (as appropriate), while maintaining excellent communication with the project lead(s) of status and issues.
- Performing tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline
- 4+ years of work experience in a technical and/or project execution role involves various complex hardware systems and components
- A scrappy team player, who will actively pitch-in wherever necessary - with excellent interpersonal, written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
- Desire and ability to function in a fast-paced small company environment with ability to adjust workload based upon changing priorities, with careful attention to detail
- Experience with manufacturing, hardware development, or testing is desired
- Experience with multi-disciplinary system assemblies is desired
- Experience with Process Design, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) desired
- A desire to grow and learn in a fast-paced, innovative team
- Ability to work with highly collaborative team
- Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently
- Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge
- Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues
Physical Conditions

- Wearing proper PPE, to include face mask, face shields, gloves, safety shoes, as required
Travel
- Some travel may be required (up to 20%) to other Kairos Power offices

- Requires occasional extended hours to support launch and critical project timelines
The salary range for this position is $112,800 to $132,700 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.
