Systems Engineering Project Lead

DESE Research seeks a skilled Systems Engineering Project Lead for a crucial project developing a prototype technology for Department of Defense (DoD)/military application. In this role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of systems engineering activities in alignment with DoD systems engineering standards. This position requires strong leadership in both engineering and project management, with a focus on delivering technical excellence and ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Oversee day-to-day project execution, ensuring that all technical and management aspects align with customer requirements. Provide consistent updates on project progress, risks, and milestones.
- Engineering Leadership: Lead and coordinate systems engineering efforts, ensuring the development of high-quality engineering artifacts and the integration of best practices.
- Requirements Management: Facilitate the discovery, documentation, and management of system requirements in collaboration with stakeholders. Produce and maintain a System Requirements Document (SRD).
- Integration Support: Coordinate the design and implementation of a Development and Test (D&T) environment to support system integration and validation activities.
- Customer Engagement: Prepare for and lead System Requirements Review (SRR) sessions with the Program Management Office (PMO), ensuring clear communication and alignment of objectives.
- Reporting & Risk Management: Develop and deliver monthly status reports covering project performance, risk posture, key milestones, and technical progress.

Minimum Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Level
Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE), Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or relevant discipline
Required Qualifications:
- Three to five years of related work experience in Project-level management or active PMP certification
- Prior experience in performing system requirements elicitation activities including participating in System Requirements Reviews (SRRs) and writing System Requirements Documents (SRDs) or Systems Requirements Specifications (SRSs)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong ability and interest to grasp new knowledge and skills through independent research and study, especially as related to military defense systems
- Preferred experience in working with and/or configuring enterprise networking equipment
- Preferred experience in using Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools including Cameo or requirements management software such as DOORS
