Position Summary

The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable IT infrastructure and cloud services. This role emphasizes automation, compliance, and operational excellence across hybrid environments, including GovCloud. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in automation development, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory management, and experience working in regulated cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Design & Maintenance: Architect and maintain core infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud environments (Azure, AWS GovCloud).
• Automation Development: Create and maintain automation scripts and workflows using PowerShell, Python, and Azure Automation Runbooks to streamline operational tasks.
• Cloud Operations: Manage Azure services, including automation accounts, runbooks, and hybrid identity configurations.
• GovCloud Expertise: Implement and support systems within GovCloud environments, ensuring compliance with federal security and regulatory requirements.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure adherence to frameworks such as NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, and internal governance policies.
• Monitoring & Optimization: Deploy monitoring tools and optimize system performance for high availability and reliability.
• Backup & Recovery: Develop and manage backup and recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation, SOPs, and change management logs for audit readiness.
• Collaboration: Work closely with IT leadership, security teams, and vendors to deliver secure and efficient solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in systems engineering, automation development, and cloud operations.
• Proficiency in Azure Automation, Runbooks, and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python preferred).
• Experience with compliance frameworks (CMMC, NIST).
• Experience working with on-premise certificate authorities (CA), including deployment, management, and troubleshooting of PKI infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage complex technical environments.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and concepts (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V and NAS appliances.
