Role Description
The Development Test group, part of Engineering within the Technology org at Form, is instrumental in providing battery testing platforms and services across all of Form's facilities and is invaluable in delivering and scaling our technology.
Form Energy is hiring a Systems Engineer II for our Test Infrastructure team in Somerville, MA. Reporting to the Manager of Test Infrastructure, this role works collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, supporting mechanical and electrical efforts, and interfacing with partner teams across the organization to understand complex problems, contributing to the development and improvement of solutions for our rapidly expanding fleet of battery test systems. What you'll do:
Contribute to the development of prototypes to offer new test lab functionality for our R&D and Engineering teams
Be instrumental in “engineering sandbox” test systems to prototype improvements to existing hardware
Conduct engineering experiments to improve test system reliability and data quality
Develop subject matter expertise to expand your knowledge and ensure you fully understand the teams’ challenges
Engage with a broad range of teams to understand functional requirements, communicate updates, and share the results of experiments
Release mechanical and electrical documentation, so designs can be standardized and replicated
What you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with 2+ years of industry experience in electromechanical systems
The desire to own problems and the creativity to explore a wide range of solutions
Drive and experience to quickly take a request to a working prototype in the safest and most efficient path possible
Demonstrated experience documenting complex systems, so others can easily understand technical details and instructions i.e., BOM, P&ID, Electrical Diagram, CAD, etc.
Familiarity with other engineering disciplines is a bonus i.e., Software, Materials Engineering, etc.
A desire to make an impact, a natural curiosity, and a willingness to lean in and help others
