JOB SUMMARY

The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining local IT systems while collaborating with the corporate IT group to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. This role involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware and software, providing technical support to users, and overseeing local network operations. The Systems Administrator plays a key role in optimizing system performance, ensuring data security, and supporting specialized departments, such as the HVAC Building Automation Controls group, with their IT needs. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.

NETWORK ADMINISTRATION

  • Resolves encountered problems in daily operation and administration of the network.
  • Manages security, system performance, and system backup on a local level.
  • Designs, specifies, configures, installs, and maintains local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as personal computers, system software, software applications, printers, servers, switches, cabling, and internet service providers.
  • Follows policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup.
  • Establishes, maintains, and documents network users, user environments, directories, and security.
  • Creates and maintains system documentation, including hardware and software inventory, network logical blueprint, network physical blueprint, standard operating procedures, system, and software specifications.
  • Orders equipment in compliance with procedures and manages inventory of replacement parts.
  • Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.

HARDWARE AND SUPPORT

  • Communicates with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware, and operations problems.
  • Consults with department managers to develop system solutions consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Researches and evaluates new technologies as requested.
  • Installs and tests software upgrades.
  • Maintains development and production environments.
  • Disposes of equipment in compliance with EBS and EPA requirements.
  • Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs into computers.
  • Coordinates activities with the help desk, network services, or other information systems groups.
  • Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Assists the Controls Department with networking and computer issues within their department and with clients.

SUPPORTING HVAC BUILDING AUTOMATION CONTROLS

  • Provides specialized IT support to the HVAC Building Automation Controls group, ensuring seamless integration and functionality between building systems and customer networks as required.
  • Diagnoses and resolves networking and connectivity issues within the BAS infrastructure, collaborating with internal teams and clients as necessary.
  • Works closely with the Controls Department to develop and implement IT solutions that optimize the performance of building automation systems.
  • Ensures that EMCOR security protocols are implemented and maintained for all connected BAS systems.
  • Manages and supports communication between BA
