JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Information Technology Services department of the Applied Research Laboratory is seeking undergraduate students with skills in systems administration and support.  The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining the integrity of various computer systems, operating systems, servers, appliances, and specialized application environments.

You will:

• Administer, install and troubleshoot technical components

• Perform maintenance tasks and make configuration changes to address customer needs

• Schedule, install and test systems upgrades

• Vulnerability remediation

• Networking tasks

• End-user technical support

• Documentation and technical writing

Students studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or governmental research or military IT environments are encouraged to apply.

Required skills and experience include:

• Excellent communication, customer service, technical writing, and organizational skills

• Experience in one or more areas such as end-user technical support; computer networking; diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving computing issues; installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading and supporting technical hardware and software; OS and software patching; documentation and technical writing.

Preferred skills and experience include:

• Systems administration skills such as technical support, operating systems and software administration, vulnerability remediation, etc.

• Experience using Microsoft Windows or Linux systems in a domain environment

• Governmental security clearance, or the ability to successfully obtain a security clearance

The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours per week over the summer.
