SVP, Operational Risk Sr Officer - Data Risk (Hybrid)

Operational Risk Management (ORM) – Data Risk is part of Citi’s second line of defense (2LoD). Our mission is to drive comprehensive and consistent practices designed to identify, measure, monitor, report and manage operational risks while promoting the implementation of actions to address root causes which may lead to unintended operational losses.

ORM-Data Risk consists of experienced professionals who apply subject matter expertise to objectively evaluate, independently oversee, and constructively challenge first line of defense (1LoD) teams, governance, processes and controls.

Responsibilities:

• Identify, anticipate, challenge and oversee the mitigation of risks that could affect business objectives
• Minimize operational risk events and losses
• Provide coverage for Data Governance Plan efforts within a specified business/function in close coordination with the operational risk coverage team and other operational risk management partners
• Review and challenge principles of data management that are integral business/function improvement efforts; review, assess, and render judgments on control effectiveness
• Advance internal operational efficiency, the use of enabling tools and management reporting
• Drive stronger collaboration, transparency, efficiency and internal controls
• Lead risk officers, formally and/or informally, in the delivery of oversight activities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s/University degree; Master’s degree preferred
• 10 years of experience in operational risk management, data management/governance,  control-related functions, or in-business risk and control groups in a financial services firm
• Experience in engaging and supporting engagements with regulators; broad knowledge of data-related regulatory requirements and expectations for financial institutions.
• Experience leading teams both formally and informally.
• Fluent English language skills
• Broad and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of banking operations including regulatory requirements
• In-depth knowledge of data management, data governance, data quality or related data concepts (DAMA-DMBoK preferred)
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g. CDMP, PMP, CISSP, CISM)
• Broad experience across enterprise operations, shared services, and technology functions to include exposure to operational risk management within this domain
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills in a complex, diverse environment
• Hands-on management reporting skills, including expertise with Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau and/or other data visualization tools
• Experience leveraging collaboration and workflow management tools (such as Atlassian Jira and Confluence)
