The Sustaining Engineer II is the primary interface between Customer Support and the Engineering and Manufacturing Teams. Roles performed by this position include Test Engineering, Reliability Engineering, and Sustaining/Support Engineering. This encompasses design and support of test equipment, troubleshooting failures, and recommending alterations and enhancements to improve quality of products and/or procedures. The Sustaining Engineer II is responsible for driving the Time to Resolution of all engineering related issues.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with Hardware and Software Engineers in defining and continuously improving Acceptance Test, Product Verification Test, Manufacturing Test, and Environmental Stress Screening philosophies and architectures
- Design, Purchase and build equipment needed to support testing. This hardware may consist of cables, custom electronics, PC interface adapters, standard instrumentation, and custom test fixtures
- Provide assistance to Production and Repair in performing product failure analysis and similar evaluations in order to determine how to improve product reliability
- Provide engineering support on all priority issues identified by the program and customer support teams. This is based on engineering evaluation and customer satisfaction priority
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement within all engineering realms. SW and HW quality and identifying the root cause and preventive actions on all company products
- Provide guidance to fellow team members
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field
- 3-6 years of experience working in a similar role
- Aerospace background and understanding
- Familiar with all aspects of engineering systems involving complex circuits, cables, power supplies, and mechanical components and operational understanding of Linux
- Experience in designing equipment utilized in engineering and production test
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes
- Proven track record in meeting project goals and objectives
- Ability to quickly learn and understand complex systems & concepts
Benefits
The starting pay range for this position is $85,00to $108,000 per year however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge and location.
