About the role
We are seeking a Sushi Cook to join the Savory team. Our ideal candidate will anticipate and address the needs of the company and our client partners with a focus on order fulfillment, quality control, presentation and plating, and deliver high-end final products while maintaining a high standard of hygiene and safety in accordance with the Department of Health and Savory standards.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty items according to recipes and standards
Maintain the highest level of food quality, consistency, and presentation
Cook and season rice to the proper texture and flavor
Slice fish and prepare ingredients while ensuring freshness and proper storage
Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized workstation
Assist in receiving, labeling, and storing daily deliveries of fresh ingredients
Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or restock needs to management
Ensure proper knife handling and equipment maintenance
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to support smooth and efficient service
Maintain knowledge of menu items, specials, and preparation techniques
Uphold company standards for customer satisfaction and overall dining experience

Qualifications:

Prior experience making sushi rolls and handling raw fish (required)
Excellent knife and food preparation skills
Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi-making techniques
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Commitment to food safety and cleanliness
Positive attitude, teamwork, and professionalism

Job requirements

DOH Food Handler’s license preferred
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and holidays as required
Capability to maintain a stationary position, often standing for prolonged periods in varying temperature conditions
Ability to lift up to 50lbs, ability to repeatedly lift up to 25lbs
Ability to work a schedule from 4am-1:30pm, Monday - Friday
