The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Supervisor (2nd Shift) to manage and drive maintenance operations at our cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Carlsbad, CA. This role ensures the seamless operation of our equipment, mentoring of maintenance talent, and collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering on process improvements. Working hours: 2:00 - 10:30 PM

The Opportunity

  • Organize and staff multiple shifts to meet operational needs while maintaining high levels of qualified support personnel.

  • Schedule, track, and maintain PM (Preventive Maintenance) and Calibration activities to ensure optimal equipment functionality.

  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, recommend purchasing needs, and adhere to budgetary requirements.

  • Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise maintenance staff to develop a strong and efficient team.

  • Analyze and report key performance indicators and metrics related to maintenance operations.

  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports and provide actionable feedback through annual performance reviews.

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues with manufacturing equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.

  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement solutions to recurring issues.

  • Execute and document equipment validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) following regulatory standards and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

  • Oversee and maintain manufacturing, laboratory, and R&D equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturers’ specifications and regulatory requirements.

Who you are

Education and Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or Science with five (5) years of related experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical or similarly regulated industry. OR More than 10 years of related demonstrated experience in a regulated manufacturing environment required.

  • Experience implementing small to mid-size automation equipment required

  • Experience leading teams or projects required

  • Asset Database Management system experience required


Preferred experience:

  • FDA, cGMPs, and/or ISO knowledge a plus

  • Experience with automated liquid reagent dispensing systems (Biodot, etc..) a plus

  • Experience with surface modification (plasma, Corona, etc..) and spray coating a plus

  • Experience with machine vision system (Cognex, Keyence, etc…) a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The essential functions of the job are usually performed in an environmentally controlled facility where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  This position may involve a combination of office and biotechnology laboratory environments.  The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals, blood borne pathogens and automated equipment.

While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.  The employee may sometimes be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $73,600.00 (min) - $105,100.00 (mid) - $136,600.00 (max) USD Annual.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link p
