Job Purpose

 

To be responsible for the daily supervision and organization of assigned Restoration Inspectors in order to effectively and efficiently accomplish job tasks in line with municipal, department, and National Grid requirements.  Responsible for the oversight of Restoration Contractors working daily shifts within a geographical region of Upstate New York to ensure safe construction practices while performing restoration work. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30pm with some weekend and overnight shift requirements.

Key Accountabilities

 

  •  Responsible for supervising Restoration Inspectors as well as external Restoration Contractor Crews.
  •  Provide daily/weekly reports / KPI (paving cycle time, customer complaints etc.)
  •  Review and approve contractor invoices
  •  Direct all aspects of the Paving construction process to meet Company goals while remaining fully compliant and within budgetary limitations ensuring the timely and cost-effective paving restoration process
  • Demonstrate sound implementation of construction policies and procedures that maximize customer satisfaction and fulfill statutory requirements while meeting or exceeding company growth and goals
  • Monitor safety, performance, productivity and workload as needed to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Maintain industry involvement to keep abreast of changing paving technologies and best practices
  • Develop continuous improvement initiatives in support of the Company's strategic objectives.
  • Foster cooperative working relationships with contractors. Participate in the development and
  • implementation of the various systems and technologies that support the paving process
  • Manages the utilization of resources (personnel, vehicles, and equipment) to ensure a timely response, monitor safety, performance, productivity, and workload and re-balance as needed to maximize efficiencies and cost effectiveness
  • Ensure that all paving requirements are performed in accordance with Company standards and procedures, PSC Code requirements, OSHA, DOT and municipal rules & regulations. Ensure accurate reporting of work including SOP's, work order historical, daily completion reporting, sketches, Operations Qualification, etc.

 

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Effective communication skills including the ability to make persuasive presentations to small audiences.
  • Ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a technical subject such as Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience with paving restoration preferred
  • 2+ years of proven supervisory experience with a focus on construction policies and practices preferred
  • 2+ years of experience managing construction work within a work management system preferred
  • 1+ year of experience managing departmental financials to ensure budgetary guidelines are met preferred
  • Experience working with engineering, construction & maintenance practices, gas utilization
  • Equipment and Federal, State, and Municipal Codes preferred
  • Prior experience dealing with gas and/or electric customers and government officials to resolve conflicts and difficult issues and develop and maintain strong working relationships preferred

Salary - $90,000 - $106,000
