Summer Intern - Materials Engineering

The intern will assist with the following duties:

• Provide internal support for manufacturing failures/defects
• Construct test plans aimed to progress internal and customer projects
• Organize technical data, write technical reports, and provide recommendations for going forward
• Evaluate welding methods and new materials for suitability with existing products
• Support the Product Engineering Laboratory as necessary
• Assist in the implementation of Design Review
• Assist the Production Department in the evaluation of current and improved manufacturing process controls with emphasis on welding techniques and procedures.
• Support tube to tube welding techniques and qualification support for applicable welding codes.
• Other specific duties will be assigned as requirements dictate.
• Comply with all applicable HSE requirements as specified in Quality Tubing’s HSE Operational Requirement for Roles and Responsibilities

Requirements:

• Must be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree in Engineering, (preferably Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering) or a recent graduate, from an accredited university
• Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical publications and government regulations
• Must possess the ability to write concise technical reports and general business correspondence
• Ability to calculate and solve basic mechanical and metallurgical engineering equations and possess a general understanding of the use and application of scientific statistic techniques
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
