Work hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location: Guadalupe Community Center, 1801 W Cesar Chavez Blvd, San Antonio, TX, 78215

Summary:
The role of the Summer Camp Assistant is to directly support the implementation of the After School & Summer Youth Program. The Assistant will focus in fulfilling grant measures for by managing curriculum, lessons, and panning assessments. The program assistant will work with the director & student support specialists, volunteers, and community partners to research, develop, implement, and facilitate various educational activities that promote healthy eating, positive personal development and wellness, and to engage and support students between the ages of 5 to 17 and their families in the community.
Position Responsibilities:
- *Assist in carrying out and evaluating program curriculum.
- *Active group supervision of youth with attention to the following: program goals, health, happiness, discipline, cleanliness, safety, routine duties, character and skill development.
- *Manage drink/snack/food stock.
- *Create open lines of communication between parents and program staff.
- *Promote youth participation in all classroom teaching and activities.
- Maintain appropriate records and statistics, and complete reports and evaluations as per guidelines.
- Coordinate and implement field trips and outings.
- Manage sign in/out App.
- Manage supplies and organize daily activities.
- Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech, table etiquette, manners, and relationships with other staff that serve as a beneficial model to youth.
- Other summer camp duties as assigned by Director and/or Senior Director.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- *Must have a minimum of a high school diploma
- *Must be 21 years of age or older.
- *Ability to work with children in a respectful and empowering manner
- Strong background in working with children and youth a must; preferred to be studying or have obtained an education degree and/or have the work experience.
- Must be able to work outdoors for more than 3 hours.
- Must be able to walk 2-3 hours during work hours.
License and Credentials
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver license
- Valid vehicle insurance
Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
· Ability to operate calmly and effectively in managing youth.
· Knowledge of positive youth development and positive behavior management skills.
· Ability to handle crisis and de-escalate situations with students, parents and staff.
· Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work with children in a respectful and empowering manner.
· Good communication skills, written and verbal.
· Strong community outreach and public relations skills and ability to liaise with community partners and leaders.
· Good organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
· Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred.
Travel Requirements:
Travel requirements for the position includes 10% local and 0% overnight.
