Hatch is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join our team in our Water Business Team in our Pittsburgh, PA office. We are looking for students that enjoy working with people in a team environment, strive for excellence, and understand innovation.
The position will allow candidates to directly apply and develop their knowledge in civil engineering or related fields of study. In addition to theoretical design and analytical work, candidates will gain valuable real-world experience and work closely with experienced engineers and professionals who will provide guidance and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with developing designs, construction plans and details, design calculations, engineering estimates, and specifications.
- Support staff in management and oversite of active construction activities.
- Use the application engineering principles to provide efficient, effective, economical, and timely solutions to design problems in a project environment.
- Application of innovative engineering solutions.
- Working independently evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or applicable field.
- Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Aptitude for working on project teams.
- Commitment to achieving engineering excellence.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge to various practical problems.
- A desire to learn and continually develop.
- Strong personal commitment to safety.
Reporting to: Pittsburgh Office Water Infrastructure Business Lead Staff

- Perform assignments related to your sector.
- Assist with preparation of detailed design for projects.
- Support preparation of drawings from detailed notes and specifications
- Coordination with other technicians/engineers on projects
- Provide support to Senior Engineers and Designers as and when needed.
