Job Description:

The Sports Nutrition Department for the Mount St. Mary’s University Athletic Department is seeking current Mount students interested in nutrition and/or working in an athletic environment who are self-motivated, reliable, and responsible.

Learning Aspect
The Department of Sports Medicine student workers have a unique opportunity to see another side of Intercollegiate Athletics. As such they are provided with a unique learning opportunity. Working in the athletic training room can be a great experience for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in athletic training, physical therapy, or other pursuits related to health and wellness, as well as a career in health administration. Students are encouraged to ask questions and seek out learning opportunities.

General Responsibilities

Duties include assisting the sports dietitian in many aspects of the Mount St. Mary’s University Athletics Sports Nutrition program. This includes but is not limited to oversight of:

• The fueling station.
• Inventory and receiving/storage of deliveries.
• Cooking demonstrations.
• Tasting events.
• Nutrition education development.

Required Skills

• Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Canvas or equivalent.
• Social media savvy.
• ServSafe Food Safety Certification is highly desired, but training will be provided to all students.

*Priority will be given to Health Science, Biology, and Biochemistry majors. However, all majors will be considered until the position is filled.  

Salary and Hours

• Students are paid the current minimum wage for Maryland.

• Students will work a total of eight (8) hours per week.
