Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The Digital Content Student Assistant will assist with day-to-day content-related tasks and promote the Fowler School of Engineering and its programs through digital storytelling. This position will involve capturing, creating, and curating engaging content across various social media platforms. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and creative individual with a strong sense of visual storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Manage the production and editing of videos for educational, promotional, and event purposes.
- Develop and curate engaging and informative content, including text, images, and videos, that aligns with the Fowler School of Engineering’s brand and messaging.
- Assist in maintaining the School’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
- Collaborate with the Marketing, Communications, and Engagement Specialist to maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posting.
- Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to gather content ideas and ensure accurate information is shared.
- Work closely with the college’s Marketing, Communications, and Engagement Specialist to ensure consistent messaging across digital platforms.
- Assist in editing and distributing the college’s email newsletters, website, digital signage, and blog content, etc.
- Attend Chapman University and Fowler School of Engineering events on behalf of the team.
- Support the team with various administrative duties as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Currently enrolled as a student at Chapman University.
- Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use tools such as Edits, CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or similar software for video editing.
- Excellent content creation skills (i.e. Instagram Reels, Instagram Stories, YouTube videos, and Shorts etc.).
- Deep understanding of the digital landscape, social media platforms, and digital tools.
- Excellent project management skills to consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Reliable and communicates well with the supervisor.
- Basic graphic design and video editing experience.
- Federal work study preferred.
- Knowledge of higher education.
- Familiarity with Chapman University branding guidelines.
- Community and/or customer service experience.
Schedule is flexible and remote work.
