The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently seeking a Structural and Payload Design Engineer (Associate & Mid-Level) to support Boeing Global Services for the Legacy Tankers Air Vehicle Design and Spares Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The team is responsible for developing and performing design engineering for sustainment, modification and improvements of military and commercial derivative aircraft.
As a Structural and Payload Design Engineer, you will be part of a team that investigates engineering requests and develops solutions that meet relevant requirements. The design engineer will then make the necessary modifications to drawings and 3D models as needed and communicate the results with support organizations. The ideal/successful candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience using CAD software to modify drawings and 3D models. The candidate will have experience correcting engineering and drafting errors; understanding, applying, and notating geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing; and managing multiple workloads within cost and schedule constraints.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops detail and modification design concepts/final designs and meeting contractual/productibility requirements for end item deliverables; This includes structural modifications, mechanical components and primary and secondary structural detail/assembly/installation designs for Development and Production purposes using 3D Computer Aided Design tools (CATIA and ENOVIA or similar)
- Integrates detail design of parts/hardware installations and supports to planning/manufacturing efforts and associated tools
- Analyzes and resolves design problems, able to develop and assist others with resolving design discrepancies and analyzes the applicability of new and emerging technologies and advanced techniques
- Supports internal/external design reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and Preliminary/Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR) with US and Foreign Air Force customers
- Provides design expertise and technical knowledge to resolve customer inquiries for post-production fleet sustainment
- Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of structural commodities
- Performs technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection
- Supports new business and proposal activities
- Gathers relevant data for root cause analysis
- Produces changes to resolve discrepancies in design packages
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree accredited course of study in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil or Structural Engineering
- 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 or more years’ experience in Model Based Definition (MBD)
- Experience maintaining and supporting process updates and engineering changes
- Experience multi-tasking and working in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Level 3)
- 5 or more years’ experience in Model Based Definition (MBD)
- Experience using CATIA v5 or similar 3D modeling software package
- Experience leading a team of engineers with responsibility for the cost, schedule, and technical quality of their output
- Experience working with configuration management tools such as CMPro or Teamcenter
