  • We are looking to hire someone to work in either our Columbus, Ohio or Merrillville, Indiana office on a hybrid schedule (2 days a week in office-moving to 3 days a week in office in September)

  • Team is looking for a detail oriented self-starter with strong financial acumen and data analytic skills who is excited to take challenges and turn them into solutions.

  • This is a new role on a new team that will be at the forefront of key business decisions. 

Job Summary
The Risk, Insurance, Strategy, for the Enterprise (RISE) team helps NiSource make decisions under uncertainty. The team leverages its integrated capabilities and expertise to deliver comprehensive analyses and innovative solutions across the enterprise. The Strategy and Risk Integration Manager will drive segment level initiatives that involve a variety of cross-functional project teams and members in order to advance NiSource's strategy. The manager would also provide primary consultative support in the application of NiSource Enterprise Risk Management frameworks to current and future NiSource initiatives
They partner with RISE senior leadership as well as segment leadership in Electric, Gas or Corporate in order to address current and future issues facing our business environment across NiSource. They will drive to closure specific projects related to regulatory strategy, risk, and insurance. They will maintain an external perspective of industry best practices.

Essential Functions

  • Lead or manage the strategic planning process for segment (Electric, Gas or Corporate) initiatives and provide an enterprise-wide perspective on the impact of those initiatives to NiSource

  • Develop insightful business analysis that evaluates the financial, market, and regulatory environments through the lens of customers and other stakeholders

  • Collaborate with senior management leadership to develop topical content and material for executive and board level presentations

  • Support scenario analysis centered around impact of industry uncertainties on NiSource business outlook and assess the viability of various strategic responses

  • Lead and/or support cross-functional teams to facilitate deep dive analyses into high value issues and develop set of actionable alternatives for decision makers.

  • Perform analyses to evaluate the opportunity and the risks of capital investments decisions, e.g., in the context of electric grid modernization investment strategy generation transition strategy or customer decarbonization

  • Leverage strategy analysis tools e.g. (SWOT analysis) and market trends to identify strategies and initiatives to address desired NiSource objectives

  • Drive the integration and adoption of enterprise risk management framework and practices within the electric segment

  • Support business risk owners and the enterprise risk management team in developing Risk Management Committee topical analysis around key segment risks and initiatives

  • Develop a solid understanding and perspective primarily through research on major industry trends, and their potential implications for NiSource

  • Collect, analyze and interpret data to form externally informed, actionable insights and outlooks that can be used to support the formulation and refinement of NiSource strategy

  • Proactively monitor, track, interpret and share key industry, regulatory and technology trends to guide leadership in decision making.

Required Qualifications For Position

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

  • Solid understanding of the electric and gas utility industry trends/challenges, and the regulatory environment

  • Strong analytic and financial modeling skills, with understanding of how to link strategies to financial plans and utilize research and analysis to develop innovative insights and drive actionable results

  • Demonstrated ability to structure, analyze and present decision focused alternatives

  • Demonstrated capacity for critical thinking and problem solving in ambiguous environments

  • Demonstrated ability to see and understand the big picture

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across functions

  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear and logical presentations

  • Advanced business modeling and decision analysis skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proactive work style and ability to work independently and manage cross-functional activities with limited oversight
