About the role

The Payments Transformation Team sits at the forefront of a rapidly changing Payments industry, seeking to keep J.P. Morgan at the cutting edge. The team is responsible for the Corporate & Investment Bank Payments business’s Transformation agenda from strategy-to-execution to improve product delivery, organizational agility, and enable execution of innovative products and solutions to our clients. The team supports all product lines across Payments and sits central to leadership across our Product, Technology, Design, Operations, Sales, and Client Service & Implementation organizations, where capability building, agility coaching, commercialization, investment governance, technology modernization, and end-to-end product delivery optimization is top priority. 

As a Strategy & Governance Transformation Team- Payments- Associate within J.P. Morgan Payments' Transformation & Execution organization, you will be responsible for helping senior management develop and execute their global strategy through strategy & governance. The Strategy & Governance team operates across these transformation pillars and the broader strategic agenda for J.P. Morgan Payments, including priority initiatives related to Onyx / Liink / JPM Coin, APIs / Open Banking, integrated industry solutions (e.g., for marketplaces), and many more. Our lean team is very high impact, working directly with the Payments global management team on their top priorities and collaborating across lines of business on the payments priorities for JPMorgan Chase broadly. Projects include developing growth strategies, assessing new product and market entry, designing organizational change, and performing strategic business deep dives. 

Job responsibilities 

  • Lead initiatives/projects to resolve diverse problems identified by senior management of J.P. Morgan Payments 
  • Gather, synthesize, analyze and present project data and findings 
  • Perform financial modeling and valuation analysis 
  • Execute creative analyses and provide insight to identify issues and arrive at recommendations 
  • Develop strategic presentations for both internal and external audiences 
  • Monitor industry trends and share insightful reports and analyses with broader team and with senior executives 
  • Create and/or contribute to an environment of collaboration and mutual responsibility ; Simultaneously work on multiple projects across J.P. Morgan Payments 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • 2+ years of experience from a premier management consulting firm, a payments firm (e.g., in strategy, product management, sales), or an investment banking division (e.g., M&A, Coverage, Capital Markets, Equity Research) that covers financial services sector 
  • Strong interest in payments required 
  • Ability to work and think independently and strong initiative 
  • Diverse problem solving experience, such as experience with a top management consulting firm or in other generalist problem solving environments across financial services sectors 
  • Outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams 
  • Openness to an environment of active developmental feedback from peers 
  • Excellent and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools (absolutely required) 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Some payments experience preferred, but not required
