About the role
Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Stores Person to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account in HMP Hull, Hedon Road, Hull HU9 5LS. This role is based on-site, which is accessible by public transport.
The salary is £24,469.85.
At Amey, we’re supporting our justice client, His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing them with safe, clean and efficient prisons. By using our facilities management expertise, we help keep 60 secure premises across England and Wales running smoothly.
A Stores Person plays an important part in ensuring the maintenance team have all necessary items to be able to maintain the site and that prisoners have items they require during their time there.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 17:00; Friday 08:00 - 16:00.
Work-life balance and flexibility are key for our success. We empower our people to make choices that are right for them. And with a network of offices across the UK, we’re open to discussing working options that suit you.
You will be responsible for:
- Issue required stock to prisoners (clothing, cleaning supplies, parcels etc.) on request and in a timely manner.

- Keep the Stores in a good state of cleanliness and tidiness at all times.
- Pack and send any items that need to be sent by courier to ensure safe delivery.

- Collect any items locally as and when required.

- Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
What makes this role unique is you will provide a service to both your colleagues and prisoners alike, working in the Stores outside of the prison wire, whilst also working alongside prisoners when making deliveries on the wings. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
We want to hear from you if you are:
- Able to deliver a positive impact and see efficiency as a top priority.
- Comfortable working in a prisoner facing role.
- IT proficient.
- Full driving licence.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a stores/stockroom role, and be prepared to undertake Forklift Operator training, which Amey will facilitate.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have knowledge of Manual Handling and experience working within a similar store room environment with use of IT packages to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
