Store Sales Representative

About the role

This position is required to grow top line sales at assigned Menards stores within geographic territory through implementing sales/marketing programs, training activities, service and merchandising responsibilities.  The store count will range based on geography and store volume. Store count ranges between 5- 7 stores.

  1. Sales
  2. Establish strong selling relationships with store associates and store management.
  3. Continually promote and represent the brand and product strengths to Menards associates, customers/contractors discerning competitive advantage and competitor’s weaknesses. 
  4. Utilize the CRM system to document sales calls and store visits.  SSR will also gather and document competitor intelligence information in the CRM.   
  5. Conduct contractor and store events to promote products and to increase sales.
  6. Ensuring promotions, pricing & signage is set appropriately in each store.
  7. Prepare Annual Grow Plan (AGP) for assigned stores in territory that meet or exceed sales & profit goals.

 

  1. Training
  2. Conduct product knowledge (PK) training sessions for current and newly hired Menards associates.  Training should include features, benefits as well as selling skills and may include a demo of the products.  Products include (Purdy, Bestt Liebco, Minwax, Thompson’s Waterseal, White Lightning, Dutch Boy Paint).
  3. Conduct sales training to current and newly hired Menards associates. 
  4. Promotional Display training to Menards associates.
  5. Dutch Boy Color Collection training & feature benefits training for Menards associates.  Training should include how to conduct a “color conversation” with customers.
  6. Train store associate on equipment.  i.e. tinting machines 

 

  1. Service
    1. Respond to and resolve product/service/inventory issues at the store level.
    2. Assist store associates with tinting/mixing paint as needed.
    3. Department review of all SW products.  Review all products on shelf to ensure products are fully stocked and properly displayed.  Replace defected products (dents, labels,etc…)
    4. Recovery and facing of products by down stocking, stocking shelves and putting up product orders.
    5. Loading and maintaining software computer updates and equipment. 

 

  1. Merchandising / Color Collateral / Displays
    1. Maintain store signage, merchandising displays, color chip and color card stock.
    2. Ordering inventory of collateral to ensure inventory is stocked.

 

  1. Misc. Responsibilities
    1. P&L review & management.  Review consists of expense management and tracking, collateral expenses & T&E.
    2. Assist other Sales Service Reps as needed
    3. Attended required conference calls 
    4. Attend local and non local trainings as required (i.e. Sales Excellence)
    5. Attend National Sales Meeting(s)
    6. Complete required paperwork/reports in a timely manner. This includes but is not limited to mileage tracking, expense reporting, etc..
    7. Assist in setting product planograms 
    8. Manage projects from small to large scope
    9. Assist in setting new stores and store re-sets

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

 

FORMAL EDUCATION:

  • Required:
    •  HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Preferred: 
    •  Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sales, Management or Marketing Related field 

 

  1. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
  • Required:
    • 1+ year previous experience in Customer Service, Sales, or Marketing.
    • Ability to work a flexible work schedule.  This includes evenings and weekends with up to 9 Saturday’s per year.
    • Must have a valid drivers license
    • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
    • Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License
    • If internal to Sherwin-Williams, you must have received at least a “meets expectations” (3) rating on your most recent performance appraisal. 

 

  • Preferred:
    • 1 year or more of experience using a CRM system such as Salesforce.

 

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required:
    •  Must have the ability to learn to operate the in store tinting machines
    •  Must be able to operate an iPhone & computer
    • 1 year or more of experience using a CRM system such as Salesforce.
    • 1 year of experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and/or Outlook)
