Description
Meet our team: Timing Systems Engineering Team
The Skyworks, MSS-Timing Systems Engineering Team is an elite group of system design engineers skilled in high-speed PCB designs, multi-chip-module designs, digital design, mixed-signal circuit analysis and modelling. The systems engineering team provides system and application-level expertise and support to the IC design, software, firmware, validation, and application engineering teams. Systems design engineers have a deep understanding of all aspects of timing system development including product definition, platform design, silicon validation and development.
The role
Skyworks has a broad portfolio of Timing products, ranging from clock generators, network synchronizers, jitter attenuators, oscillators, and buffers. We are the dominant supplier in a high-performance communications timing market thanks to our leading technologies. Our products heavily leverage our core IP, which uses digital, analog, and mixed signal technologies; providing industry leading frequency synthesis flexibility. You will be responsible for creating hardware and software infrastructure needed to optimize performance on our clock products and developing modeling tools.
Responsibilities
What you will need
Deep understanding of RF circuit concepts such as crosstalk, in-band and out-of-band noise, phase noise, clock jitter in the time and frequency domains.
The main responsibilities include:
- Develop modelling/optimization programs in Python to maximize performance of our high-performance clock products.
- Create algorithms and collaborate with our firmware team to integrate them into the final product, enhancing its functionality and performance.
- Collaborate with the design team to develop verification tests and validate silicon at the block and system levels. These tasks span creating circuit specifications, verifying circuit performance through simulations, the design of PCBs, the development of test benches in the laboratory, and extensive testing across different test conditions.
- Evaluate the thermal performance of our products through the correlation of simulations and empirical measurements done in the laboratory.
- Collaborate with our software team to define application interfaces and further develop our customer-facing tools, which are used to configure and optimize our devices.
Skills
Core skills
- MSEE with 6 years of relevant experience or BSEE with 8 years of relevant experience.
- Good understanding of phase locked loops, control theory and EM theory; solid knowledge in communication theory, RF design and signal processing.
- Possess at least two of the following four major core competencies:
- Experience with product definition, verification, and development of PLL-based mixed-signal products.
- Experience in developing sophisticated test methods and proficiency with specialized laboratory equipment including spectrum analyzers, phase noise analyzers, high-bandwidth real-time oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, etc., needed to evaluate device performance through signal integrity, jitter, etc.
- Experience with high-speed PCB design, using industry leading EDA tools (experience with OrCAD / Altium preferred).
- Experience with modelling of control systems and RF-circuits, as well as thermal analysis of circuits using MATLAB/EMX/Ansys.
- Experience with software application development for engineering analysis / design using Python or Visual Studio.
- Knowledge of Verilog and Verilog-AMS is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Process-oriented and passionate about delivering high-quality results.
