This position works out of our Irving, TX location in Abbott Core Diagnostics. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott’s diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
What You’ll Work On
The person hired in this role will lead a cross functional team on a subproject in the development of new products.
Lead a cross-functional team on a subproject to develop new products.
Solve complex product development problems.
Create system-level design documentation and requirements specifications, collaborating with marketing, engineering, and other stakeholders.
Participate in specialized functions like algorithm development, user interface development, chemical process development, or data analysis methodology.
Follow specialized procedures to execute experiments, evaluate, and document results.
Build working relationships with cross-functional groups.
Define products, design system architecture, write and manage requirements, perform risk and hazard analysis, and handle product testing and evaluation, System V&V, and design control documentation.
Optimize design processes.
Design and conduct system-level characterization/verification of complex systems; collect, organize, analyze, and document test results.
Integrate analytical and performance-related elements with software, hardware, and electronics system components.
Communicate effectively and participate in cross-functional development teams, using good negotiating skills to guide multi-disciplinary teams toward solutions.
Ensure the effectiveness of the quality system.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Product development experience in Engineering or physical science.
6+ years of experience in general engineering/science principals and laboratory skills.
Strong knowledge of defined development process that is consistent with ISO, FDA design control standards or requirements.
Experienced in one or more of the following: Electro-mechanical, software,
mathematical, chemical or biochemical technologies as they pertain to the design,
integration, evaluation and commercialization of diagnostic systems.
Ability to work on many subjects concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree is preferred
1+ years of experience in similar role/field/industry.
