Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Staff Software Systems Lead with the Software Engineering organization based in Manhattan Beach, CA.
The primary responsibilities of the Staff Software Systems Lead include (but are not limited to):
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Determine overall system and user needs, analyze system capabilities to resolve problems with program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.
- Prepare operating instructions.
- Design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensure software standards are met.
The Staff Software Systems Lead should have academic and work experience in software engineering and development across the full life cycle for multiple domains and systems such as aerospace programs, embedded systems, test set/special test equipment, or ground system applications. The role requires experience working in a process-oriented environment utilizing waterfall, spiral, or agile processes. The Staff Software Systems Lead should also have strong verbal and written communication skills, strong team-building skills, and be comfortable working on large teams with talented engineers from other engineering disciplines. The selected candidate will also provide technical leadership for more junior team members.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM degree with 12+ years of software development experience, OR Master’s Degree with 10+ years of software development experience, OR Ph.D. with 8+ years of software development experience
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python
- Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
- Full understanding and significant experiences with full software life cycle (requirement, design, code, test, integration), SW builds, programming standards, and practices
- Experience with Systems Engineering verification and validation requirements analysis and decomposition, and generation of requirement specifications
- Embedded systems software development, integration, and test experience
- Experience using DOORS or equivalent requirements management database
- Candidate must be able and willing to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret and/or Top Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Experience generating requirements traceability matrix
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering languages (SysML/UML) and concepts
