Role Description
Form Energy is actively scaling up our manufacturing operations in order to commercialize our novel multi-day battery storage system. The Operations Software Engineering team plays a critical role in this exciting phase of growth, including working with MES platform (Ignition/Sepasoft), ERP (Oracle), PLM (Arena) and related enterprise software systems, and developing in our AWS cloud environment. Form uses 3rd party tools & services when possible, so your work will focus on solving problems unique and valuable to our operations.
In this early technical leadership role on the Operations Software Engineering team, you will envision processes that do not exist yet, architect and design workflows with stakeholders and product managers across multiple applications, and implement via a mixture of hands-on and project lead responsibilities. Example early projects may include architecting and building the data flow to reflect the manufacturing processes in our first factory. With your leadership skills and ability to work on various technical areas, you will make significant contributions at a fast-growing climatetech company.
What You'll Do:
Identify workflows that are missing and/or have gaps in data flow across company functions
Tackle ambiguous problems by architecting and designing workflows with stakeholders
Design technical solutions to complex problems involving the physical world and multiple software applications
Drive projects forward with hands-on implementation as a collaborative member
Build strong processes for designing, building, testing, deploying, and maintaining software
Advocate for high-quality software engineering practices and lead by example
Fill in gaps on a growing team while collaborating with designer, product manager, data engineer, or platform engineer peers when needed
Desire to learn from others, grow professionally, and support your teammates in their growth
What You'll Bring:
7+ years of professional software engineering industry experience
2+ years of experience in technical leadership
Proficiency in development with Python or similar object-oriented programming language
Proficiency in multiple of the following: database systems, distributed cloud computing, pub-sub messaging services, SCADA, OPC UA, Modbus & PLC integration, web-based frontend development, JVM-based software platforms, Oracle or similar ERP platforms
Strong understanding of data modeling for performance and scalability
