We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Operating systems team at Snap Inc!
What you’ll do:
Lead and Contribute to Design: Lead or significantly contribute to the design and architecture of system software and operating systems for both prototype and shipping consumer products.
Develop Core OS components: Design, implement and maintain software components at all layers of the Operating System including the kernel, synchronization primitives, I/O subsystems and more.
Collaborate and Review: Actively participate in design reviews, code review with peers and stakeholders to ensure high quality, reliable solutions.
Troubleshoot and Debug: Triage complex product or system issues, analyze root causes and develop effective solutions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong understanding of operating systems principles, Inter-process communication, computer system architecture, microprocessor /microcontroller fundamentals (caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA, etc.)
Proven experience with full software Development process skills including: source control, bug tracking, and design documentation
Broad understanding of audio/video domain fundamentals, connectivity, system architecture and frameworks.
Strong analytical and software debugging skills
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or electrical engineering or equivalent years of experience
6+ years of experience with system software development
5+ years of experience developing SW for audio/video frameworks or WLAN/cellular
Technical leadership experience with specialization in at least one of the following areas: Audio/Video or WLAN/BT
Proficiency in programming C and C++ on Linux
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years of experience of developing Operating Systems including Inter-process communication and application framework
10+ years of experience in leading the development of SW for Audio/Video or WLAN/ BT protocols
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
