About the Department
The Section of Genetic Medicine conducts impactful investigations focused on quantitative genetics, systems biology and genomics, bioinformatics and computational biology as well as through extensive collaborations of the faculty throughout the Department of Medicine, Biological Sciences Division and the University of Chicago.
Job Summary
Responsibilities
Designs, develops and tests experimental protocols for research. Collaborates with other researchers as appropriate.
Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors scientific research manuscripts.
May supervise other research staff and students.
Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.
Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.
Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience:
Experience in organic synthesis and biochemistry wet lab experiments, including synthesizing and characterizing organic compounds, drug design, in vitro enzymatic assays.
Experience with writing manuscripts and giving scientific presentations.
Experience with assisting in the training, a strong publication record, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in research.
Preferred Competencies
Knowledge in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, and enzyme assays.
Knowledge in bioinformatics methods and statistical tools.
Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures.
