We need talented, hardworking individuals who share our goal of tackling the challenge of climate change. Do you want to work with us today to build a better tomorrow?

Role Description

We are looking for an experienced SCADA engineer to join the new and growing Manufacturing Controls Engineering team.  You will be responsible for the design, development, and commissioning of our SCADA and HMI systems to provide seamless operator interface with the control systems and equipment used to manufacture and assemble battery components for Form Energy’s commercial product. This role offers an exciting opportunity to bring cutting edge manufacturing equipment to life while doing your part to help combat climate change! Reporting to the Manager, Manufacturing Controls Engineering, you will lead a quickly-growing controls team while focusing on creating SCADA and HMI systems which work seamlessly with the control systems for manufacturing and assembly. In this role, you will build the control systems for high volume automated process equipment, robotic cells, servo actuated mechatronic systems, and utilities systems with a focus on SCADA and HMI applications and integration with MES systems.

Bringing your experience in SCADA and HMI design, programming, commissioning, and equipment hand off to manufacturing operations, you will work closely with a wide variety of teams both on the technical and operational sides of Form. You can expect to become deeply entrenched in the intersection of critical functions as the team works toward a common goal of manufacturing battery components and assemblies in high volume.

This opportunity is based out of Form Energy's Eighty Four, PA facility. Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and grow a world-class team of controls engineers that deliver on key objectives toward advancing Form Energy’s manufacturing equipment development efforts.

  • Develop company level SCADA and HMI standards and specifications for application by the internal equipment development team and external partners.

  • Create SCADA architecture and programming for manufacturing equipment and production lines.

  • Participate in SCADA and HMI conceptual development and carefully balance the needs of end users, cost, and lead-time limits.

  • Lay out server and local HMI stations requirements.

  • Work with the controls engineers to develop schematics for local HMI stations.

  • Architect, write, and debug SCADA and HMI programming with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable and reusable.

  • Work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire lifecycle of the SCADA and HMI development.

  • Work with controls engineers to verify new automated process equipment for deployment into production.

What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years of experience as a hands-on SCADA Engineer working on design, development, and commissioning of complex SCADA and HMI systems.

  • Subject Matter Expert with Inductive Automation’s Ignition platform.  Should have gold certification from Inductive Automation.

  • Experience with integration of Ignition with SepaSoft or similar MES platform.

  • Advanced Proficiency with interfacing with Siemens and Rockwell controls platforms with Ignition.

  • Experience with multiple HMI systems (Simatic WinCC, FactoryTalk View).

  • Experience with multiple industrial communications protocols (PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, MODBUS TCP, and serial).

  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining OT Network equipment.

  • Experience selecting and integrating hardware for servers and industrial PCs for the SCADA and HMI systems.

  • Proven ability to design fault-tolerant systems with error handling and recovery.

  • Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Excitement and willingness to lead a rapidly growing multi-disciplinary engineering team.
