Staff Research Associate
UC San Francisco (UCSF)About the role
The Quantitative Biosciences Institute (QBI) Krogan Lab at UCSF is seeking a qualified and motivated Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) to join a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment focused on neurodevelopmental disorders and protein interaction biology. This position is an excellent opportunity to learn several valuable, cutting edge techniques in molecular biology, neuroscience and proteomics, while working with an highly dynamic and interdisciplinary team.
Under the general supervision of the research leadership, the SRA II will contribute to research projects focused on mapping protein interactions and pathways in different cell types, including iPSC-derived neurons. Experimental responsibilities include expression of affinity-tagged proteins, affinity purification and proximity labeling workflows for mass spectrometry-based protein interaction studies, mammalian cell culture maintenance, molecular cloning, and validation assays using cellular, molecular, and biochemical techniques. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, scientific curiosity, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic interdisciplinary team environment.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Identify the functions or tasks that employees in the job perform. The essential functions should state the purpose of the work and the results to be accomplished, rather than how the function is performed. Of the tasks listed, what percentage of time is devoted to each? The more time employees spend on a function, the more likely it is that the function is essential. Generally, include those functions that account for 10% or more of the work, i.e., key items that contribute significantly to the achievement of the job. The functions should add up to 100%.
